PARRY: STICK WITH US!
Interview: Barrie McAuliffe
Paul Parry was the player unlucky in the draw to have his name called for our in-depth match-day programme interview ahead of Colchester's arrival - though there were no complaints, excuses of attempts to duck responsibilities from the winger who fully acknowledges and empathises with the feelings of frustration many are feeling at this moment in time.
I asked Paul if he thought 'City supporters should try to keep their heads this week based on the talent we have in the squad to come good.
"I think the fans know that and that's why they're as frustrated as they are right now," he admitted. "There's so much quality in the squad, but they're not getting to see that at the moment. That's where the frustration lies. My message to them is to stick with us and push us up the table.
"It's an important week for sure with the Colchester and Blackpool game, followed by the local derby against Bristol City. Atmosphere and derbies aside though, I'd take three points from each game knowing we played badly - though hopefully of course we can have both.
"We're working hard and have fully reviewed the match against Charlton, looking at what we need to sort out and what we didn't do. Everyone was disappointed, but we've got a massive chance to put things right quickly. The desire is there to fix it and we aim to do just that, starting with Colchester today."
Colchester of course will present a tough test at Ninian Park, coming here looking to bounce back from the Watford loss on Tuesday night.
Of their arrival Paul said, "They took four points from us last year and are always a tough team to play against. But everyone is a tough opponent in this league, so we've got to go into the game in the right frame of mind.
"It's up to us to go into the fixture with confidence and we've been working hard in training this week. We'll be playing to our strengths and doing the things we know we're good at and do right. I hope that the fans can get behind us."
